Ok, a tiny bit of a shameless plus here, but over a year ago I got to do concept art for Tim Burtons Alice and Wonderland for 5 months with a few other artists at Gentle Giant Studios including The Red Stars Christian Gossett, our very own Benjamin Roman, and Kat Dias (invadertak on here.)
http://www.apple.com/trailers/disney/aliceinwonderland/We were one of a few places working directly under VFX Sup Ken Ralston to generate really early visual development for the characters and creatures. I basically got to work on 32+ characters and creatures, 8 hours a day, for 5 months, with very loose direction, and it was fantastic.
Ive been dying to see how this has been shaping up because we werent the end art team, they had their own internal art department who sifted through the hundreds of designs we, and a few other places, produced and came up with the final look of everything, so it was hard to know what stuff of ours made it in, if any at all.
No idea when I can post anything Ive done for it, Im hoping it's sooner rather then later, because Im proud as hell of some of the work we produced as individuals and as a team.
Watching the trailer it was cool to see some of my stuff make it to the big screen, most notably the White Army looks nearly identical to my designs for them, and who knows if that was actually because of me or because someone else came up with it first and mine came in a late second haha.
The only other thing I know is that Colleen Atwood singled out two of my The Knave of Hearts (Crispin Glovers character) and used them as a spring board for what would eventually become the final design.
They didnt use any of my Jabberwockys, which I think rocked hard-core! Cant win em all haha.
Anyways, just pimping myself because it's rare to see stuff I worked on at GG outside of their product line, especially something as big as this.
Hopefully next comes some cool art haha.
