Damn! How did this all go undetected? Seriously good work here all around. Though I could have sworn I saw more images in this post right before I was going to comment.

There's much to look at here that I don't know where to begin. I love your organic work, and that religious figure looks insane. My only thing with it is that the lower part of the body with the legs looks too smooth, giving it a more textural feel like the skin on an elephant would fix that up I think. Still that would only be nitpicking as the whole thing looks great.

Anyway, I love the mech, which is what sticks out in my mind since I love that sort of thing. It actually looks like it could work somehow. Makes me want to see more angles of this or more mechanical stuff outta you.

Seriously good work and although I'd like to see some of this stuff textured like the organic stuff, it's only nitpicking at this point.

thanks spyder! you are right about the legs, i was worried i had too much detail on him already and didnt leave anywhere for the eye to rest, so i left it clean which appears to have been a mistake since there is zero detail balance throughout the model.
and you arent going crazy, i edited like half the images out because i felt bad for posting so much shit, but if you wana see more of the tech guy ill post him.
also i have this head sculpt that i started messing with yesterday and all the cool art styles on this forum inspired me to draw ontop of it so here it is
Image
and here is some more views of the mech
Image
also if you like the weird religious references model here is one i did with some fun religious overtones!

That second mech kicks ass. Did you learn Zbrush in school, or are you self taught, out of curiosity?

thanks demotyme! they didnt teach it at vfs so i just used it after. some friends helped me to learn the basics of mudbox then i used it at work but eventually gave in and changed to zbrush. which was an easy transition after knowing mudbox. if you're wondering i deffinatley prefer zbrush over mudbox now.
here is an update on the head ive been screwing around with

I don't really know enough about modeling to give any real critique, but I figured I'd stop in anyways and let you know I friggen love that mecha :D But seriously the designs to each of these seem strong, and appropriately gross for the more horror-esque designs. Keep up the good work and keep posting dude :] Any lack of responses in this this thread is certainly not a lack of interest on our parts or talent on yours - so don't be discouraged by that haha (I assume most just don't know how to critique models - like myself)

You never finished my monster... douche.

Solid stuff as always man. You got really fucking good with the mech stuff, I bet you'll really rape it when the next zbrush comes out with that fucking planar brush... damn.

I would say one of your sloppiest aspects to your work are your ears. Dont slakc on the ears man, those can be the coolest fucking things to work on, tons of stuff going on and one of the hardest to really get right. They're fun as shit anyways, quit being a slacker.

Also, that Priest Finger-Spider-Mech guy, not a fan of the finger type legs... they just look like normal monster fingers scaled up. Whenever you're making things larger or smaller, they change a pretty good amount, and these look like they would work for a normal sized hand if that makes sense. Like the wrinkles on the knuckles would change, same for the skin overall, so would some of the anatomy... it'd become something different.

Good seeing yah posting some work up again man. Dont fall off the face of the planet as quickly this time, try and stick around for a bit haha.

thanks Ciurczak! appreciate it

and igo, ill get back to that monster, i swear. ive been playing with the new zb now for a couple days that shit is tricky as hell. gonna take a bit to get use to.

its funny you mention the ears, one of my friends always bitches at me about how he always knows my ears cause i never care about them. its hard when you just wana sketch out shit fast and not worry about it later. ill have to do a good one on my next model. and i compleltly agree with you on the fingers, i played with changing them up and i kept losing the hand aspect of it, it would look like 5 legs, which is maybe a good sign the design is not the best... however im stubborn, and i wanted it to be distinctly walking on a hand so my stubbornness combined with low design skill formed demon hand tech pope. damn i wish i gave him some wings and a hand gun or something now, wouldve sounded even cooler.

Im totally digging the layering to that helmet man. Like all the shit within shit, with out TOTALLY overdoing it, looking rad man.

The guy definitely has a fucking frog-like wide mouth though man. I know it's stylized, but I wasnt sure if that's what you were going for. And for as relaxed as his facial expression is, and there not being too much detailing all over the place, those angled secondary brow ridge things seem a bit out of place man. If he were making an angry face sure, but it's neutral, and it just looks a bit forced. Plus, if they were there, they should be further out from the center of the face.

As for the ear, its alright man, but you could do better. They are kind of popping out a bit too much, a bit money like, from the front view. Usually you dont see a whole lot of the outer most part on the back. Usually that secondary "Y" shaped part comes out a bit more and is a bit fuller. That make sense? Just look at some more ears and really study them, dont slack off.

I WANT MORE MECH SHIT FROM YOU! I love how you handle that stuff man, fuck I want you to make more of that shit, some robots... mmmm....

thanks dude!!! the ears and mouth were a style choice, however the expression and brow is overmodeling, ill have to fix that when i get back to the head. maybe pull the ears in a bit to. i just always thought the faces got a little more character when their ears were slightly pulled out.
i did the body blockout, hopefuly gona take this 1 all the way with disp and textures ect

Stylized or not, it's still pretty good modeling. The detailing you've done is what does it for me. It's a lot of the intricate little details that really sell what you're trying to accomplish. Just to reiterate what Igo said is that it's not overdone, it seems just right. Can't wait to see how it looks like finished. Any updates by the way?

Yeah man I love how it's turning out so far and it's not even done yet. I'm really digging how you have fleshed out the chest and back areas so far.

The detailing on the model is looking real good, I can relate to being busy but this is progressing finely.

As for the other image, man even though it's far from done, it looks great. I'm diggin the subtle detailing around the eyes. Definitely wouldn't have the same impact if the eyes didn't have that.

so my shit was gestureless and overwhelmed with detail that looked like a 12 year old designed it so i deleted a ton of shit today and rebuilt it much simpler.

Digging the profile shot with how the back was handled man, looks rad.

One major thing that popped out at me was how his legs look like they are put in boots way too big for him. There needs to be some sort of fastening at the top with the hips, because it looks like you could literally lift him right out of those guys...

dude that painting is fucking rocking man. One thing to watch out for is that her face kinda has a uniform heat and feels completely opaque. Skin is crazy transparent, so having bits of colors glowing through (specifically green for veins and red for heat) very subtly will have a huge impact on the realism of the piece. That said shes kinda the same warmth throughout her face, where as the forehead and area under the top lip should all be cool. If you've heard of the band of heat just keep that in mind (basically you wanna warm from the eyebrows down to the top of the mouth, with warmest areas around like the eyes and nose and cheeks). You can do this just with an overlay layer on really low opacity, so there isn't any repainting that needs to be done - but adding in some variation in her warmth will really add a lot to this.

also this new model is very gears of war-esque haha, its got that muscular manly style thats all the rage in shooters these days.

anyways keep up the good work :D

I'm definitely liking the redesign on the shoulders and upper body in general. I think sometimes we all fall into the trap of overworking a design. With that in mind, I like what you've done to make it simpler and less cluttered. Everything seems to flow better and still rocks man.

No matter what you do to that model, it still looks pretty good. Though those circular segments on the outside of the arms look like ritz crackers to me right now. ;)

As for the portrait, I know it's early but those eyes are almost too wide open. And it still has some of that uniformity that Dan mentioned. I would suggest that you use a levels adjustment layer and playing with the red and blue levels.

You can get quite a bit of variation from that alone without having to resort to painting over what you've already done. It's a quick way to add variation and change up your colors a bit.

Just my personal opinion, but it doesn't make much sense to me having exposed wires on his hands, especially if he's busting shit up. Just seems to run contrary to his implied function. It's all coming together real schmicko though!

the colors on that new girl painting are fantastic. Also as far as finishing it out, have you considered just rendering out the rest of her flesh (ie that arm) and then leaving all the clothing flat? I think that'd look pretty damn awesome :D

keep it up i'm really digging where these paintings are going
