Hello! I've been lurking here for awhile, but I finally have some new art to post!!! I might know some of you from ze olde Eatpoo or maybe even Ringling (art or circus school), so hello again! I've been working on personal paintings after awhile of doing illustration paintings, after doing many a year of textile design shite. So here are a couple of paintings for my print series (which can be gotten right HEEEEE~):

The following I typed to another board, but it is perfect for now... so here is the pertinent copy/paste action!:
Feels nice to get back to myself, and ideally, I could just do what I want for a living, art wise. I've been working toward it, because I really hate doing shit that I'm not into. I dunno if personal art is worth dying for, but I'm pretty fucking starving. I think if I ever need to amputate my legs from gangrene, then I will get an actual job like, doing something really worthwhile like flipping burgers and using the fryers to help promote violent acne. I was doing design work for aloha shirts and board shorts for the past near-5 years, and although I've done hundreds of shitz, for companies like Quiksilver, Speedo, Territory Ahead, my shit's in WalMart, K-Mart. Sears, Macy's, tons of other shit- of course, I get no credit whatsoever, and I have nothing to show for all of that. So it's bullshit, which is why I'm concentrating on personal art. Because I believe it's freedom!!!

Thanks! Though my composition skills are in peak condition, and I feel I'm able to guide a viewer's eyeballz to where I like and how I like; that eyeball movement and content intake hopefully resulting in a viewing state that I like (for example, a bright red dot can be put in a corner of a piece, to make the viewer feel uneasy and annoyed). But as with all art, I will continue to "work on it", on an hourly basis.

However, if you pointed out what you see as compositional problems, I will keep it in mind and appreciate it. Nice to get all the potential help as possible!

Ohh thats some SLICK paintings, specially the horse one with the muscles and all.
One thing I liked and that I myself find super hard to do is to have a highlight in the shading and that highlight is still somewhat dark, but in a good looking way, which you achieve! that makes for a wondeerful style

I wonder what would your stuff look with a stronger contrast too, i think it's worth the try!

Thank you, thank you! With this particular series, actually, I intentionally concentrated on a more midtone and dreamy look. Most of my older work has a lot of contrast, as they are essentially super dark scenes that are spotlit. You can see some of my more contrasting work here:

Especially the later 2003 and 2004 work... they're all pretty dark! One of my series after "ridonkulous" is actually a high-key series. So while the various series I'm working on and have planned are conceptual in nature, they're also times for me to explore various aesthetic themes.

Really great painting! The stylization is quite interesting.
I agree with the comment about contrast though. A lot of your tones are similar in value, greying things out. I think it would be nice to see your work with a little more contrast between the tones.
