Hey guys,
I was missing posting on these forums and I thought, what the hell, it´s about time.
I´m loving the good energy and awesome skills you guys have managed to keep here, so here I come again ´cos I need some of that. And big time.
Oh, and glad to see how some of you have become real art beasts in such a short time.

So yeah, enough with the chatting and here goes some of my embarrasing stuff I´ve been doing lately:

I´ll be trying to post some more "realistic" concept art images. Just trying to build a new kind of portfolio, as I´m growing tired of always working in the same kind of games. And yeah, I´m looking for a new job now.

ahh great stuff man - especially that second piece of that hammer witch girl, I dig the way you did her hands and pose. The colors are also pretty fresh.

anyways something to watch out for is making sure your silhouettes are clear. This is mainly a crit for the 3rd piece in of the dude jumping with the spear, but everything seems squished in, and I think w/o the rendering the pose would possibly not read. Try to avoid unnecessary tangents in the forms of the silhoutte that would otherwise confuse the overlap (like the further away shoulder to the pecs, and really the whole like that follows from that.) Don't be afraid to spread out the pose and open it up a bit more - it feels really confined.

also you're prolly aware of this but the big awesome rock dude in teh first ones just floating there, might want to make him grounded or is he supposed to float or wat?

oh and the beck piece fucking rocks - the end. hope this helps :]

SoulKarl: I hear you, dude. Top notch advice. The characters are kind of floaty and lacking shadows ´cos they will be used all around for the company´s dossiers, sell sheets or whatever, so they ask me to draw the character´s final art like this, that way they can just grab and drop the art.

No crits from me right now, just wanted to say how awesome it is to see your work gracing these boards once more. Such amazing shape and flow, plus killer inks as well. Loving that tank down the bottom, would love to see more of that for some unknown reason haha

Hey Dylan!
It´s good to be back, man. I´ve been completely out of the internets for a while, but I think it was about time to soak again into all this cool energy that floats around here. Good to see you here again, man.

Aaand, some more art. This time it´s just a speed painting (about 1 hour and a half) I did with Painter. I´m just starting with it and having a lot of fun.
I know it kind of sucks big time, but I´ll try to post stuff like this more often. I have to improve my coloring skills FAST!

hey! Good stuff man!!! i have to say i am particularly fond of the first guy you posted (with the texture- i really dig the colors and the smooth vs. texture, real clean) and the tank really got brought to cloud nine with the colors. Thanks for sharing! Your speed painting is pretty rad too... i think i would have been more selective on the speed lines and laser rays, but im a beginner, they just seem to be scattered very... evenly, you know what i mean? Like, op, heres an empty space i'm going to put a red bolt there, and everywhere!

I´ve been quite busy lately and that didn´t left me with much energy to do anything after work, but yesterday I thought I needed a cheesy space marine on my portfolio and I went for it :cheeky:

Ok, no more space marines then.
Here´s something different I´ll be flooding my art post with. This is part of the sprite sheet of the main character from my next videogame project for the iPhone. It´s just me together with good friends having a bit of fun with one of our own ideas for a change, and see how it goes.

Awwww... but your space marine was tight! Dont hate just because we've all been uber busy haha.

Seriously though great work man. I definitely didnt think "space marine" when I first saw the design... I think the feathers and the scarf threw me off, and not having a space helmet on. He just looks like a bad-ass futuristic warrior of some sort. Great work though man, Im really digging your color and rendering work as well.

The sprite stuff is great man! Ive always been curious to get into that type of stuff, but it seems like it'd be tedious as all hell. Is that mostly what you've been doing lately? Sprite work for iPhone games? It's great man, fun stuff!

Haha, naw, I was just joking with the space marine thing. I know you guys were busy as hell with the SDCC and the forums were a bit dead during the time.
Glad you dig the sprite stuff. I´ve been also quite curious about doing sprite work for some time, so when I had the chance of working on a game full of the stuff I thought it could be fun. But yeah, it´s tedious big time.

I did pretty much everything you see in there, including the logo and stuff.

Ok, so here´s a very little update, but an update, nonetheless:)
So here´s a little preview of just one of the enemies you are going to find on PZS, so you can take a look into the game´s animation style.
Warning! Cartoon violence ahead!





First, we create our zombie guy:

Second we add some color and put him in motion. This guy REALLY wants your brains!

Third, headshot!! Some nice bonus is due.

And OMG!! he still can run! And he still wants our brains!! :happy:

How do we kill him for good? Well...you´ll have to play the game to find out! ;)

Naw, no running around. I don´t really believe on those screen drawn d-pads that other devs use on their games for controls on the iPhone. I prefer to have a simple and straighforward control system that works perfectly rather than put a d-pad in there for free movement. But anyway, the running around idea is cool, although I still wouldn´t do free roaming. Maybe just a level with the character on the go while he kills stuff would look nice.
