Yeah, so I started doing 10 pin ups for an art show I got coming up on the 7th of October and so far it ain't going so hot. I need suggestions on how to correct the streaking I got going on in the flesh tone.

Image

I'm using Copic/Touch markers on Bristol, thing is the bristol sucks up the ink like crazy leaving me all streaky. I can somewhat remedy this by going over the color a few times, more than 3 tho and it gets too dark, then compromising what I want out of the pic.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get less streaks? My method thus far is laying down a layer, then another, then yet another if needed until it's in the situation as the one I posted. I unfortunatley can't change the bristol to something else as they are already drawn on them and the sewing border is done as well. In my thumbnails it didn't seem to do the streaks but working larger is proving quite difficult.

Suggestions please, I'm desperate.

Does alcohol help at all? I know it helps blending Color Pencils, not sure if it would work with this.

I never use markers, mainly because of what you just showed me, I know Id fuck up WAY too much.

But yah, alcohol might work... did you try googling it? Someone mustve posted a tut somewhere...

you do have to work with markers? as far as i know markers don't work well on great surfaces and drawings. you can aways try to "cover" the flesh coloring with watercolor pencils (without adding water to it).

Thanks guys, I got some advice from Michael Cho and he works with markers and bristol all the time and says this just comes with the territory. He usually color corrects in PS after, I say if I wasn't selling these I'd just do them up in PS exclusively. But I wanted to do some original pieces and not sell prints. I may switch to gouache for some of these but I ain't sellin' them for much so I could just say deal with it. The scan makes it look worse than it actually is, especially from a distance.

It should look better as it drys too, the streaking should fade.

And just try some alcohol on a test. Like, get some alcohol, put it on a wipe, and brush it softly across the surface, see what happens.

I might be totally pulling this outa my ass, all I know is that it works for colored pencils and paint for statues.
