Finished Stuff

I searched high and low on the forums to see if these were already posted in a WIP thread, or in a finished section... so if I missed em mah bad.

First is a piece I finished the pencils for a while ago, but more recently it got colored by the awesome freaking ASE!

Jackie and Hyde for "The Cryptics" TPB due out in October through IDW:

Second, something more personal for me, Dylan and Shane as SS-Finked as we can get:

Colored by ASE (I love this guy) and final touch-ups by Monk.

Last, something Im sure a lot of peopel have seen but I never really posted it here in any art secion, just the Art Jams section, but it was a ton of fun to do:

I love the Cryptics pinup so much, saw it earlier in your gallery for SatelliteSoda version three.....that was a great tease!

Anyway, I love it, you two work really well together. Compliment each other nicely. Seriously blew me away. The background in particular. Quite an innovative way to approach it. Nothing but love, praise and all that other warm fuzzy stuff haha

The second pic is sweet as well. I love my SS custom shoes, I don't think I noticed those in the original drawing.

More collabs please. I love seeing your in color.

More straight up black and white work would be nice as well. Perhaps less smudge work and more straight hard black vs white. Pretty much saying do some traditional black and white work haha

dave you rock. i love everything you do. though the last piece doesn't look finished: [ fucking do your clean lines like you used to do.

Dylan, it's funny because everyone that has seen the Hyde piece loves the tile from the start, but it didnt totally sit right with me initially but grew on me like a cancer, Ive really grown to love it. ASE is totally bad ass, he's like Monk, another guy you can just hand stuff off to and you get back way more than you expected without ever having to worry, it's great... he completes me :oops:

The shoes on the Rat Fink piece he missed, same for Shanes belt buckle, and there is where Monk came in haha.

I love abusing ASE, I love collabing with him and I wanna see more art outa him, and I want his job to be less demanding so we can see him on here more often. :cry:

NO SMUDGE! I only used brush and erase dooder. But yah, Ive been working hard on a technique I learned at work and I gota start applying it to personal work so I can actually show it off. I HATE NDA! Hopefully you'll see some B&W shit that's finished soon.

Jonah, the last piece is SO finished. It's exactly where I want it to be. Clean lines are great and all, but it's fun to do stuff like that every once in a while.

MAN that's so fresh so good, a lot of delicious details everywhere, so inspiring. i have that Fink one now as a desktop wallpaper haha how badass! thanks for leveling up the inspiring bar you freaking beast hahaha, seriously that ratfink one is incredible, as well as the others of course, but the look a like and the gestures and everything it's amazing man, thank you!

this update was totally necessary man, try to update more often seriously.

the tiles idea is genius, freaking ASE!

Thanks Dan! I printed off a HR at work of both of our collabs and I love looking at em.

I really need to pust up my WIP steps of that Rat Fink piece, because it's definitely a great example of me doing too much fucking work, and doing so many unnecessary steps, and taking way to fucking long to execute one piece. I love my process and my end result, but sometimes I wish shit would just come easier for me sometimes because that wasnt an easy piece, like most of my work. It's draining.... haha.

i'm so embarassed... that was all out of jealousy. these pieces are way sick duder. especially the ones that you posted as reference for flork. ;)

in all seriousness though, i'm going to pick on the cryptics piece. i understand you didn't color it, and that's a good thing, because my problems don't lie within the color job. the thing that bothers me the most is the kids finger. the background, the composition, the linework...it's all great. that kid's finger, though? it belongs to a 95 year old, life-long pianist. the second and third lengths are identical, and are even almost as long as the fist length. also, the side of his palm should probably be a little beefyier.

i could continue, but i'm sure you know these things already. the drawing is fabulous, make no mistakes; however, when i see the great dave igo let something like a child's malformed hand go like that... i just can't help myself.

well, that and there's not much else i could say that you should have fixed.

love your work duder. come back to san francisco.

I didnt even notice the finger till you pointed it out. I never remembered drawing it so "old man'ish" and I went back to check the pencils and I can say Im somewhat safe in my decision:

I think ASE went a bit ape shit in the rendering, but regardless, it could use a bit more mass for his youth, so next time brotha! But yah, the lengths on the segments are messed... Good eyes though, better than mine.

SF is in the future, I promise! You guys need to track down here also, LA is pretty effin cool.
