Day 18: Vepar

Not 100% sure why, but I'm really groovin' on your day 24 piece. Maybe it's because it sort of reminds me of this one comic I have. In fact, it might be something you'd be interested in looking up. It's called And Therefore Repent and it has a sequel called Sword of My Mouth.

They're about people living on earth post-rapture. People mutate into crazy hybrid things, magic, etc. Like, since there really aren't enough people left to maintain and operate power stations, they develop a form of communication where this one girl with a whole bunch of piercings in her face connects wires to them in what I guess you could assume is the magical equivalent of paper cup phones.

It's weird.

To go back that Day 19 pic... I didn't know you were 6ft tall - and when did you get glasses?! <----Been holding that joke in for a week, just too good though, couldn't keep it in any longer

And as for the issues with scanning your pencils (losing quality, etc), yeah, that's a common issue for artists who try to scan pretty much any art that has 'shading'. Scanning watercolours too - or pretty much any kinda media other than just straight black inkwork - is also generally a pain in the butt. I don't really have many tips myself other than to just play with the settings on your scanner (try lowering the contrast, fiddling with the darkness, etc) and then once the image is in Photoshop try playing with the Levels (click on "Image", then "Adjustments", then "Levels" in the top menu bar) until you stumble across a process that's able to preserve the shading quality to a level you feel looks best. Either that, or maybe Google "how to scan pencil art" or stuff like that - or even just ask some of the artists here who draw in pencils how they do it themselves (Fennewalde might be able to help - as the old SketchTavern legend goes, Fenn used to only draw digitally until the fateful day, years ago, when Hardsloth mailed him a pencil so that he would start using traditional media -- and Fenn hasn't really ever gone back since, heh)(Fenn's thread is here: viewtopic.php?f=44&t=5258).

Also, gotta say, I was kinda enjoying reading the commentary in your posts as much as the actual art - so if you do draw up any pictures of weird dream monsters, feel free to post up a bit of writing with it (as a needlessly rambly, overwordy writer myself, I actually *do* read that kinda stuff haha).

Day 27?: Pod Apartments

As many know, I'm very tiny and while I complain when others tease me about it, I really don't mind being little. And being little, I like doing little things in little spaces. So, I designed some futuristic pod apartments. They're too small to stand up in, and are only for night activities. Each has one small cubby, a small foldable laptop table to be used in bed (not pictured), two upper shelves, a chair, and a bed. There isn't much room for customization. I think that at this point, we'd have most of our clutter condensed into our electronics: Laptop, e-reader, phone, and music player - in the pods, there is space for these items and a few sentimental extras. These characters either have some sort of daily outfit or clothing storage elsewhere. There are communal bathrooms. All apartments have one wall of window overlooking some fascinating city, I bet. In the middle pod, I imagine these two characters are actually committed, and it is the male's pod. He has a love note from his girlfriend on his wall. I think that the girl in pod one is the soul mate of the girl in pod three, and while they are incredibly close, they may never meet.

I've been editing my pictures as much as I can, but I find every measure to darken them ends up making them really grainy. And yeah... I need to get photoshop.
Thanks about the writing portion of my drawings. The last few haven't had much stories behind them unfortunately. Most people who look at my sketchbooks get trapped as I tell them endlessly detailed stories about every picture and character I've ever designed. So, I'll get back to that.
