Looks good but could be so much better. I would suggest adding a drop shadow to ground him first of all.

After that I would probably use another color other than white for the highlights. Probably a yellow or any type of warm color like that but using white doesn't necessarily make the image interesting. Same goes for the shadows. Using purples/blues or other cooler colors will make the shadows look better. Merely using a darker color will not make for an interesting image.

Play with lighting too, maybe going with something simpler/safe like just plain lighting overhead or something but you'll get a more dynamic outcome at the end instead of a "flat" looking image.

Still though, it's a good start and can't wait to see what else you can come up with. Keep it up!

I'm running out the door but something that spyder forgot to mention regarding color. He has giant blue lights all over his body (which i might add is metalic). Why is none of that light reflected on the red surface? bounce light bounce light bounce light hurray :D

if you need a better explanation just ask - sorry i didn't have time to go more in depth :o

Pretty much echoing what the two gentlemen above said plus throwing in a surprisingly quick paint over.

In regards to shadows, if you want something really poppin', nothing works better than the simple use of a complementary of your base color. Here the base color is red, so I threw down some green shadows on a separate layer with the opacity set to 65%. Also added in the drop shadow Raul mentioned, a few extra highlights with a 1 pixel paintbrush and some simple B&W gradients with various layer settings, a curves adjustment layer and shazam!

So much you can do in Photoshop to make an image interesting without really doing anything, so have a play around. :]

Dylan nailed that.

I dug the character design alot. The skinny arms and torso with the huge genie-like legs = win for me.
