Greetings all! I've decided to take part actively again in posting work here, as its been WAY too long.
First I wanted to share with you my long term comic project, Analogue. It is ongoing, and I try to update it in a timely manner. Crits and comments are totally welcome of course. Below is a little blurb from the website to explain the story a bit. Enjoy!
www.analoguecomic.com
13-year old Luc Gerard leads quite the ordinary life. He does well in school, possesses a close circle of friends, and carries on a steady relationship with one Sofia Belmont. Things begin to worsen however, when our young hero's sleep is disturbed by a series of unusual dreams connected by the presence of a certain tri-circular emblem. And in the non-dream world, Luc soon finds himself face-to-face with many of the many strange beings out of his daydreams, including a tall, green trenchcoat-clad monster claiming to be the 'god of war', and a red, bio-mechanical giant named Sonos, able to control and channel the sonic power of sound. Whatever these bizarre, godly beings desire is a mystery to young Luc, but it soon becomes clear that Luc's conscious and subconscious worlds are blurring into one whole.

I really like your drawing style, particularly how you handled the shading most, both with lines as well as colors. Especially cause you're not over doing it and it's still readable. I'd like to say more about the colors but I'm writing this from one shitty computer with one shitty monitor and I'm fairly positive that it's way too dark, so I'll have to come back for that.

I like what I see so far though, might have to check out the actual site sometime! I've only read what's in this thread so far and although the premise doesn't seem revolutionary per se, it's got me interested (and then again, most stories don't sound absolutely mind blowing when summed up into a couple sentences...). I think you should post more. That first page especially, very nice.

thanks Monk! Really appreciate the comments/critique you wrote, very helpful/bolstering and all. Yeah, that story blurb I wrote was hard for me to write, as I normally don't like to write about/explain my work, but I figured it'd be a good idea to have SOME sort of explanation that I could throw on the front page of the website that revealed just enough of the story to be interesting. Glad you like the story too though, as much as the art, since I don't consider myself a Pynchon-level writer :) Definitely check out the website tho, whenever you get a chance!

So I'm just gonna throw up some more work here for you guys.
Some finished work:

And, some sketch work from my current sketchbook.

And I still need to comment on yous mugz' work too. I'm gonna go do that now then. Cheers!

man, this is really beautiful.

My only thing here is the way you draw the characters eyes.
I understand it's your style and all... but maybe try other things as well.

Very, very nice! I like it a lot, and your comic is really interesting as well!

cheers!

Thanks JEIK! Glad you like the work! And I agree with you now on your point with the eyes, not every character in the book needs to have the same black eyes, good point.

Nice work, I really like how you've rendered the dodo racer's feathers. Also, sprocket's head seems a tad large for the length of his body.

Thanks! And I see what you mean about Sprockett's head (although that might be partly due to the turban as well).

Inspiring! I like the confidence of your lines....loose and free-flowing, but confident. Your storytelling is very understandable too!

That robot image is rad man! Loving the simple design coupled with the texture detail. Loving the colors and the soft/light-hearted feel as well.

Only two things bugging me. The hand holding the coffee, the fingers are kinda off construction wise. The thumb looks like it's going away from us in space towards the kid, than the two top are coming towards us, while the arm is going away again, etc. It's just not doing it for me. Everything should be going downward, away from us, towards the kid, that make sense? Otherwise it's breaking the arm and fingers in the space they are placed in.

Lastly, the kid should be looking up at the coffee establishing a more intimate connection between the two, otherwise it just looks like hes zoning out on the robots shins or something.

Here's a draw-over:

Hope that helsp man, great work!

I too love the traditional work. The paints work really well, I'd love to see you take that a step further, maybe mix it with some digital techniques as well and see what you can come up with.

The latest comic page is sick too, love the rendering and your choice to stay in black and white. Looking forward to more of that, hopefully!

Gunstarr: Glad you like the painted work alot, I do want to be able to work that into the Analogue body somehow, 'prolly for cover art and stuff.

Igo: Wow! Thanks A TON for the drawover, as well as the super helpful crit. This will be really useful when I eventually do the finish of this concept. Thanks again!

Monk: Thanks! And yes, I think thats a good idea to incorporate the digital technique into my painted work, I DO need to dive into my copy of Painter already. Glad you like the B/W painted work too! And yes, there will 'prolly be more of the two pagers, as I love working with this particular writer (Shawn Gabborin, btw).

Oh, and to all, sorry I've been away so long, I've started school again at Art Center, which has been kicking my ass of course ;) I'll try to upload when I can tho, stay tuned pilgrims!

I'm also working on a new comic for Zuda submission,
Norestfor...
a b/w story about a monster hunter named Yasmine,
tracking down a group of strigoi who have kidnapped a girl.

That Zuda submission is looking tight. Cannot wait to see more of that. Best of luck with it! :]

PS - Your work looks amazing in black and white!

Wow... Really charming characters. And the girl is like... almost erotically charming. And so animated! The frames almost look like stills from an animation... Real nyoice...

Gotta agree with peepee, that girl is nuts!

I love the way you draw eyes, very fitting for children! Those traditional stuff is kicking some serious ass.
However I think my favourite thing about your comics is that you do a tonnn of different shapes and graphic resources, trully amazing!

Saw your work on the ML forum and went out searching for more. Glad I found you on here too, the work you've been posting is really inspiring. I still agree with what some people have said about the colors and the characters' eyes. Your sketchbook work, and your latest submission for Zuda, are really lovely. You should check out some of Jillian Tamaki's work, your Zuda submission is starting to remind me of her style in a very good way.
