Hulk slapping planes = WIN

Quite a few people have been complaining about not-Ed Norton is playing Hulk this time around, but personally, I see why they went with who they did. I assume that they assumed their viewers would nitpick the hulks facial features as opposed to the actors so they probably had to get a dude that looked like a Jack Kirby drawing and could act, hence.

I'm pretty hyped about Spiderman. The witty banter segment won it all for me, but, I'm a little "eh" on the Lizard's design, from what I can tell. It feels like they're gonna make him like (Bruce Timm) Killer Croc with a tail. hope that doesn't happen

im pretty eh overall on the movie. i hate that everythings at night, just tonally i find it non-spidermany. hes the happy go lucky lighthearted hero, with real personal problems.
this looks like they are dark knighting it too much.

a friend and i were talking about how sick we are of origin movies that conveniently has a supervillian being born at the same time. i think to really push the idea, and play with the meta of the fact that spiderman is the peoples hero, make the first movie about the people hating a vigilante in their city. theres a bit of it in this movie with captain stacy, but i think he should just be the main villian. and smaller street villains can pop up as fodder. like the shocker. whod i love to see.

Avengers: It's starting to look pretty good but it still can't shake this SHOT FOR TV movie I am getting out of a lot of the scenes. Most of it might have to do with the comps of shots and the cinematography but it just looks very uninteresting visually. Unless Hulk is on screen, then it's 1000x more interesting.

Spider-Man: I LOOOVE wise cracking Spidey. The whole new angle with this flick could be interesting but it does feel a tad redundant. I have to chime in with Kris regarding all the dark shots. Spider-Man was always a bright bubbly super hero but I suppose they want to ride some coat tails on teenage angst or something. I do like the whole science inclusion though. That will be fun to see. And Lizard? Fucking atrocious character design. So boring. At least give the bitch a lab coat!

im digging the wise cracking spidey is back, but i dunno how i feel about him getting in the car with the jacker. that seems, a bit, creepy. he should be on the hood or something.

its just dark and stalkerish. the whole thing

kris: Totally agree with you on the origin story and villains thing, but I think that as far as marketability and franchise value that would never fly in main stream theaters. American audiences (which are obviously the largest consumers of Hollywood productions) would probably say it were too deep, and boring. They'd rather see a movie about spiderman fighting a giant lizard than spiderman trying to prove himself as a good-hearted vigilante. I'm tired of movie renditions of literature that absolutely can not be condensed into an hour and a half of film. It's, to quote my favorite philosipher, "Reductive".
I have to say though, Christopher Nolan is doing such an awesome job with straying from convention.

faz, oh i perfectly agree. mine was just wishful thinking

but as for your nolan example, id almost go as far to say that he has strayed to the point of where its almost unrecognizable. I didnt really think about it until you just wrote that, but i wholeheartedly feel that Nolans batman films would work far better if they werent batman and his own IP. As anyone who has ever brought this up to me can say, i dislike nolans batman films solely on the fact that they dont feel like batman at all. and by this im mainly referring to the tone and style of Timms animated series largely, and the comics. His adaptation has completely striped all the cornyness and ridiculousness that i feel is needed in superhero stories to the point that if not for batman calling himself that and the cowl, id say this is just a mob franchise with an overly eccentric vigilante.

saw it yesterday with my brother, I'm not really 'in the know' about the Avengers, but I rather enjoyed it.
Hulk was my favourite by far.

edit: I forgot what they were called, but those baddies you see in the trailers aren't Skrulls.

Yea, I think they're the Chitauri, from the Ultimates (the 'Ultimate Universe' version of the Avengers). Have yet to see it, but my colleagues tell me to bring tissues for all the nerdgasms you´re gonna get :)
